Frequently Asked Questions
The 8ra Initiative drives the development of a sovereign, interoperable, and secure Multi-Provider Cloud-Edge Continuum. With more than 120 partners from 12 EU Member States, it promotes open collaboration to build a resilient and scalable digital infrastructure designed for Europe's needs.
The Important Project of Common European Interest on Next Generation Cloud Infrastructure and Services (IPCEI-CIS) is a major European digital policy project aimed at strengthening Europe's digital and technological independence. Officially approved by the European Commission in December 2023, it involves 12 EU Member States and around 120 industry and research partners. With many more organisations benefiting indirectly through cooperation and the use of its results.
The IPCEI-CIS is a key part of the 8ra Initiative. It provides the funding, framework, and collaboration needed to realise the vision of a European Multi-Provider Cloud-Edge Continuum. Projects within the IPCEI-CIS contribute directly to building a decentralised and federated cloud infrastructure that supports interoperability, security, and sustainability.
The IPCEI CIS General Assembly is by invitation only for IPCEI CIS partners and representatives of the European Commision, member states, and the Cisero project.
The 8ra Open Conference is open to both IPCEI-CIS participants and other interested stakeholders, such as cloud providers and users who are not (yet) involved in the 8ra Initiative.
Attendance at the General Assembly is compulsory for IPCEI-CIS partners. All other stakeholders are very welcome to join the 8ra Open Conference.
Attendance at the General Assembly is limited to three representatives per IPCEI-CIS partner and is by invitation only. Depending on capacity, more participants may be registered; these additional registrations will be reviewed during the second validation round, and we will inform you if the extra attendee(s) can be accommodated.
Please note that only one registered representative per organisation is entitled to vote. The designated voter must be indicated in the registration form. If your organisation is not listed, please use the open field to enter it manually.
